Our hard working builders have attracted unprecedented attention and interest in St Jude’s Church. The engraved glass doors (all original designs) creates a striking new entrance. The stainless steel torch which forms part of the construction, also acts as an exciting focal point for the extension.

The huge arched windows, give views into the church. Whilst the skylights in the new roof afford magnificent vistas of the tower and the curved glass extension encompasses our verdant garden.

The church will be open every day and everyone is welcome. Part of the church will be kept as a place where you will be able to sit quietly, pray or light a candle. No-one will disturb you, but someone will be available if you want to talk. Our church has provided a sacred space in Southsea for over 150 years. It has a very special atmosphere.

Our aim has been to create a way into the church that is attractive, welcoming and easy to find. A great deal of activity goes on inside the building, not just on Sundays but during the week as well.

All the groups that meet in the church will now be able to enjoy much improved facilities with a fully equipped new kitchen, new toilets and refurbished meeting rooms. And of course we can provide suitable accommodation and facilities for those with disabilities.

We run a real mix of activities, to which all are welcome. Some are Christian, such as the Alpha Course, Bible Study and a mid-week Service. Others are more social in nature and include Keep Fit, a Toddler Music Group, a Lunch Club and a Fellowship Group for older people. All offer the opportunity to meet and make new friends.
