Portsmouth City Council is constructing a splash pool at the old bowling green site on the seafront. The idea is to provide a safe environment where families with children aged 8 or under can participate in play, using water.

The pool will not be staffed and a full risk assessment has been carried out to ensure safety, but only those with children will be allowed to use the facility. There will be no alcohol, smoking, bikes, BBQ's or dogs allowed in the pool area making it even safer.

There will be two pools with maximum depth of 120mm and a variety of children's play equipment will be added, as money becomes available. For shade there will be semi mature trees planted and picnic benches. The tennis pavilion adjacent will be available for toilet facilities and will also open a sports bar where healthy snacks will be available. The building has already started and it is planned to open in August.
